Commiphora Unilobato

$118.00

The Commiphora Unilobato is endemic to central eastern parts of Kenya, central and southern Somalia and Sidamo in Ethiopia.

The most unique bit of the Unilobata has to be its beautiful exfoliating paper thin bark that peels off like an old tree to reveal a green succulent bark. The Commiphora species are also known for producing aromatic resins, that gives off a lovely scent when the wind blows past them. These are often used to make essential oils. The lance-shaped leaves sprout in a group and are beautifully lobed with the new shoots coming out in a nice red before turning lime green. The small flowers bloom from inflorescences bearing fiery red buds.
