It is a rare, slow-growing caudiciform succulent from South Africa characterized by thick, fleshy, grey-brown stems that form a swollen base and light green, obovate leaves with prominent three-veined markings, often featuring purple undersides. It produces small, yellow, daisy-like flowers.
